cnwd is a relatively new gourmet food business run by Scott Davis and partner Kirsty Manning based conveniently just a few miles from the end of the M4.

After years of working in top restaurants in London and New York, Scott has returned to his Carmarthenshire roots to create wonderful smoked fish and terrines. Setting up a smokery and producing premium smoked wild fish was a natural step as Scott’s own grandfather fished for wild salmon from a coracle on the River Towy.
You can buy Scott’s products online or head to the Olive Branch Deli in Llandeilo. And if you miss their products when you get home they now have stockists in London, Cardiff, Surrey and Leicester!

Gower Samphire which you can buy while staying at Lothlorien Self catering accommodation in south Wales
Gower Samphire
On the Northern Coast of the Gower lie the Salt Marshes which are rich in plantlife such as Saltmarsh Grasses,Samphire,Sorrel,Sea Lavender and Thrift.

The Lamb produced in this region therefore has a distintive flavour and tenderness. This has been produced for generations at Weobley Castle
near the village of Leason on the Gower. The Samphire itself is a local delicacy, it is a great addition to a freshly caught and cooked plate of Salt Marsh cockles.Another local delicacy is Laverbread which is made from seaweed and tastes a bit like oysters and olives but it is more of an acquired taste.

Welsh Rarebits

Wales is famed for its baking bounties such as
Bara Brith which is a dense moist fruit loaf and of course Welsh cakes which are flat scones, delicious with a cup of tea.
Cwmcerrig Farm Shop & Grill

Farming and selling fruit and veg runs in the blood of the Watkins family. So it comes as no surprise that Cwmcerrig Farm Shop and Grill, which they opened near Cross Hands in 2009, has become a popular pit stop for locals and visitors to the area.

You could do your weekly shop in this vast emporium of local produce, which stocks everything from vegetables dug up in local fields to hand-patted Welsh butter, and features an award-winning butchery that sells best cuts of the Watkins’ own Texel lamb and Hereford beef.

After you’ve made your purchases, pull up a seat in the café-grill for breakfast, lunch or a light snack, chosen from its well-priced, home-made menu. The food is good, but the views through the huge glass windows of the surrounding countryside make this an even more appetizing place to take a break. All this and you’re just 10 minutes from the M4, so shopping for local produce couldn’t be more convenient.
Public access: Mon-Sat, 8.30am-5pm; Sun & bank hols, 10am-4pm. Phone orders can be taken for local delivery and there will soon be the option to order meat boxes and produce hampers online.

Nant Du Pork
From their traditional small Welsh farm, husband and wife team Rob & Fiona Park, are dedicated to the conservation of rare breed Oxford Sandy and Black pigs and the amazing taste they produce. Born bred and fed on the lush, wet grasslands of the Towy Valley and nurtured to maturity, they provide the "pork as it used to taste" experience.

Wonder why the pork tastes so good? These pigs lived locally in a little arc in an overgrown woodland. They spent their days foraging and drinking fresh Welsh Spring water, wallowing in natural bogs and supplementing their diet with non GM food. They ended their lives at an ethical abattoir and their meat expertly prepared for customers.
Family favourites from Nant Du Pork include the traditional roasting joints that the older generation say remind them of their childhood, meaty sausages the children will adore, gammons and traditional farmhouse cured bacons for sizzling sandwiches.
Combining the traditional Welsh bacon cures and Italian Charcuterie heritage, the new range of spice infused pancettas provide a taste explosion for summer salads, pasta dishes or as meat and fish cooking companions.

In 2012 Nant Du Pork hope to invest in a purpose built production unit for developing their own range of Welsh Charcuterie and air dried hams.
